After chatting recently with Charmaine, I received this email in my inbox.

I have reprinted it here in case any blog followers want to get involved….

Hello

Thank you for your support and interest in the proposed community garden at Jay Street Reserve, Paparangi.

Wellington City Council have approved the licence for Jay Street Reserve, subject to a public consultation period, where the public can make submissions by the 15th of November. if there are no objections the licence will be granted for a term of five years with a five year right of renewal.

We have received a Grant from WCC and hope to start building the raised beds and planting in December.

Come along to the Newlands Community Centre on Wednesday 26 October 7.30pm if you would like to find out more about the proposed community garden and how you can be involved.

If you are keen to help build raised beds, help with the garden design, grow seedlings, come along to working bees, help build compost bins, plant fruit trees, or provide support in any other way then reply to this email and let me know how you would like to help.

A facebook page has been set up for Northern Community Gardens so please ‘like’ us!

if you would like any more information or details about the proposed Community Garden at Jay Street Reserve then please send me an email.

Happy gardening

Charmaine
