Work on upgrading Johnsonville Station starts next week.
The station is being extended to the south, the platform re-surfaced and additional safety features, such as yellow tactile strips on the platform’s edge, added.
Construction is expected to take up to three months and sections of the station will be closed during that period.
Some carparks on the eastern side of the platforms will also be unavailable during the construction period.
Wellington region rail programme director David Gordon thanked passengers in advance for their patience.
Box Hill will be the final station on the Johnsonville Line to be upgraded. It will close on May 3 for three months.
Many of the stations on the Johnsonville line have already been upgraded and lengthenedĀ along with a lowering of the tunnel floors to accommodate the new carriage units. Local commuters are looking forward to using the new improved service in the near future.
